Bottles do not need to be washed before returning for a refund, but must be empty and identifiable. Containers must be intact, empty, complete with caps, and have a legible barcode to be accepted for the deposit refund program. Over 25 million containers were returned between April 10 and June 25, indicating positive consumer adoption of the deposit system.
