DNA on Uzi and pistol in Dovecot attic sends Liverpool drug dealer to jail

Joseph McCollum, 39, a convicted drug dealer, was jailed for six years after his DNA was found on an Uzi submachine gun and a pistol hidden in a Liverpool home. The weapons, including an Uzi-style automatic weapon and a Makarov pistol, were found in an attic and a bedroom wardrobe in Dovecot last August. One firearm had been used in a 2019 shooting. McCollum admitted two counts of possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition. Judge Simon Medland said McCollum performed a vital function for serious criminals. The homeowner, Paul Wilson, was previously jailed for four years. McCollum has 29 prior convictions for 66 offences.
