DJ charged with murder after fatal stabbing of fiancée following public proposal in New Jersey

Jose Melo, a DJ, is accused of stabbing his fiancée, Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado, to death just hours after proposing to her publicly. He called 911 on December 30, admitting to the stabbing during an argument. Police found Maldonado unresponsive with multiple stab wounds at their home. A large knife with blood was also discovered nearby. Melo, 52, faces first-degree murder and weapons charges. Melo has a criminal history, including a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sexual contact. He had posted a video of his proposal on Facebook shortly before the incident.
