Disney settles class-action lawsuit with Disneyland workers for $233 million

Disney will pay $233 million to settle a class-action lawsuit from Disneyland workers who claimed they were underpaid under an Anaheim law. The law requires employers receiving city tax subsidies to pay at least $17 per hour. The lawsuit began with workers earning between $12 and $14.25 per hour. Disney argued it was not subject to the law, but an appeals court ruled in favor of the workers. Currently, all Disneyland employees earn at least $19.90 per hour, with 95% making more. A recent agreement with the park's largest union set a minimum hourly rate of $24.
