Dipladenia: thornless climber with hanging flowers for warm regions

Dipladenia (Mandevilla) is a thornless climbing plant resembling bougainvillea, producing trumpet-shaped flowers in white, pink, or red, and blooming for months in warm regions. It thrives in full sun or light shade, needing well-drained, fertile soil and moderate watering without waterlogging. Flexible stems grow over trellises, fences, or walls. Unlike bougainvillea, it lacks thorns and bracts, making pruning and handling easier, though light pruning encourages branching. All parts contain toxic milky sap that irritates skin; keep away from children and pets. Fertilize with phosphorus and potassium in spring and summer, and reduce watering in cold winters.
