D'Ieteren Automotive cuts 344 jobs in shift to mobility services

D'Ieteren Automotive, the Belgian importer of Volkswagen brands, announced a major strategic overhaul that could eliminate 344 jobs as it shifts from traditional car sales toward broader mobility services. The restructuring will primarily affect its headquarters in the Brussels-Capital Region, with the company citing permanent market shifts including fleet decarbonisation, the mandatory mobility budget from 2027, AI-driven digitalisation, sharper global competition, and a structural market decline since the Covid pandemic. The company stated that some activities, functions, and structures no longer match market expectations, and it has initiated the legal collective redundancy procedure under the Renault Law. D'Ieteren, founded in 1805, has been exclusively importing Volkswagen Group brands for over two centuries.
