The Philippine DICT launched free public Wi-Fi at 160 sites in South Cotabato and North Cotabato on Thursday, providing internet access in schools, barangay halls, health centers, and government facilities. The rollout includes 75 sites in South Cotabato’s second district and 85 in North Cotabato’s second district. Each site has three Low Earth Orbit satellite access points, delivering speeds of 100 to 220 Mbps. DICT said various technologies are needed to reach archipelago communities. The projects followed requests from local lawmakers and were launched during National ICT Month 2026.
