Diane Parry's US Open run ends in second-round loss to Sorana Cirstea

French No. 1 Diane Parry was eliminated in the US Open second round Wednesday, losing 6-2, 7-5 to Romania's Sorana Cirstea, just four days after winning her first career title at the WTA 500 in Monterrey. The 24-year-old world No. 31 saved two match points at 5-4 in the second set and broke Cirstea to level at 5-5, but lost her serve immediately after, ending her seven-match winning streak in just under two hours. Cirstea, 36, playing her final Grand Slam, faces Italy's Jasmine Paolini next. Parry, who rose from 124th to 31st in the rankings, is targeting a strong 2027 season. Leolia Jeanjean remains the last Frenchwoman in the women's draw.
