Dhanush urges Chennai students to learn Tamil, says ignoring mother tongue is an insult

Actor Dhanush said not knowing your mother tongue is an insult, urging students at his Chennai alma mater to learn Tamil. Speaking at Thaai Sathya Matriculation School, he lamented that eight of ten people he meets cannot read or write Tamil. He recalled a Belgium film shoot where locals called English a bonus and one’s mother tongue essential. He thanked his Tamil teacher and inaugurated the Dhanush Block at the school.
