DGA Bars Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's 'You Can See Everything' From Top Feature Prize
The Directors Guild of America has ruled Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's "You Can See Everything" ineligible for its top theatrical feature prize, restricting the A24 documentary about Elizabeth Holmes to the documentary category only. The DGA cited its rule book stating documentaries are not eligible for the theatrical feature award, rejecting arguments from A24 and strategists that the film's hybrid nonfiction-staged narrative style warranted dual classification. The ruling is significant because the DGA feature award historically aligns closely with the best director Oscar. The 174-minute film, which opened Oct. 16 to strong reviews and box office, remains eligible for best documentary feature at the Oscars and is submitted in multiple categories including best picture and supporting actress for Amanda Seyfried. DGA nominations will be announced in January.
