Devers refuses move to first base for Red Sox
Rafael Devers has informed the Boston Red Sox he will not play first base, following the season-ending injury to Triston Casas. He is committed to being the team's designated hitter. Devers, who signed a long-term contract, stated he discussed the first base possibility with team management. He expressed his unwillingness to switch positions again after being told to focus on DH during spring training due to the signing of Alex Bregman. The Red Sox are currently using a platoon at first base. Devers suggested the team should seek a new player instead of asking him to change positions again, citing a lack of flexibility.
