Detroit Lions training camp Day 6: Alim McNeill leads standouts

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill was the standout performer on Day 6 of training camp Tuesday, dominating padded drills with multiple tackles for loss and earning praise from starting right guard Tate Ratledge. McNeill beat blockers Cade Mays and Blake Miller on consecutive run stops, while cornerback Nick Whiteside earned first-team reps and covered Jameson Williams on a key fourth-down play. Running back Jabari Small impressed with a big run and kick return duties, and linebacker Damone Clark showed strong downhill play. Tight end Sam LaPorta had his best practice of camp, catching a 30-yard pass and a 5-yard touchdown, after a quiet start. The Lions closed Week 1 with their second padded session.
