Derby couple set world record for fastest cycle around the globe

A Derby couple have cycled over 18,000 miles through 20 countries in 123 days, setting a new world record for the fastest cycle around the world. Amy and Kyle Hudson completed the journey on 2 September, beating the previous record by 82 days. The 30-year-old husband and wife team travelled an average of 146 miles daily, carrying all their own equipment and climbing 470,435ft. Kyle injured his shoulder in a crash in Canada with two weeks remaining but continued pedalling. Their route included Malaysia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and Spain. The couple, tracked by GPS, await official confirmation from Guinness World Records. They raised over £55,000 for mental health charities, drawing on their personal struggles with eating disorders and homelessness. They plan a spa visit, but Kyle's first priority is hospital treatment for his suspected broken collarbone.
