The Pentagon deploys Google Gemini AI

The Department of Defense launched GenAI.mil, an AI platform for military personnel, initially featuring Google's Gemini 3. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated the department is heavily investing in AI as a fighting force. The platform aims to increase efficiency by embedding generative AI into daily operations, with potential uses including administrative tasks, intelligence analysis, and conflict simulation. Gemini for Government will be accessible to over three million users at the Pentagon. This initiative follows a $200 million contract awarded to Google in July, and other AI companies also hold defense contracts, suggesting future integration of various AI models into the platform.
