Demolition crews destroyed iconic New Jersey hotel

The iconic Sheraton Mahwah Hotel in New Jersey was demolished Saturday morning, ending its decades-long presence as a local landmark. The 22-story hotel, known for its dark glass exterior, stood near the New York border for nearly 40 years before closing in December 2023. The demolition, which shut down parts of nearby highways, was delayed twice before finally taking place. The site, formerly a Ford assembly plant, is now owned by Crossroads Developers Associates, who have plans for large-scale non-residential development, including warehouses, on the 142-acre property.
