Delhi replaces private clinics with Ayushman Arogya Mandirs

The Delhi health department is preparing to launch Ayushman Arogya Mandirs as part of the central government's health initiative. This program will provide free healthcare services to the public and is set to replace the existing private mohalla clinics. Officials have been instructed to identify suitable government spaces for these new health centers. They are currently assessing how many mohalla clinics can be transformed into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. These centers will offer medical consultations, medicines, and diagnostic services at no cost. All district magistrates in Delhi have been tasked with finding government-owned properties in their areas for this purpose. The government's goal is to ensure transparency in healthcare delivery and to make basic health services more accessible in local communities. Details of available properties are expected to be submitted in the coming weeks. The Ayushman Arogya Mandir initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. This mission aims to enhance the public health system to better respond to pandemics and health emergencies. PM-ABHIM was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2021. The initiative will strengthen healthcare at various levels and develop an IT-enabled disease surveillance system. It is designed to ensure that health services remain continuous, even as the government phases out private clinics. This change will help people in underserved areas gain easier access to necessary health services.
