Delhi reclaims 100 acres from three landfill sites

hindustantimes.com —

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that approximately 100 acres of land have been reclaimed across the Okhla, Bhalswa, and Ghazipur landfill sites after disposing of 21.71 million metric tonnes of waste over the past 18 months. Gupta inspected the Okhla site to review legacy waste disposal and processing capacity, directing officials to fully operationalize new waste-processing units and ensure fresh waste is handled scientifically to prevent future accumulation. The government is expanding waste-to-resource and renewable energy projects tied to solid waste management. Mayor Pravesh Wahi previously stated Bhalswa and Okhla should be cleared by end of 2026, with Ghazipur remediation finishing by 2027.
