Delhi Police to prosecute foreign-based gangsters using trial in absence law

Delhi Police will now prosecute gangsters operating from abroad under the new 'Trial in Absence' law, facilitating their extradition. This new provision under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) allows courts to conduct trials and deliver judgments for absconding criminals, making it easier to bring them to justice. The law aims to curb organized crime and extortion rackets run by gangsters from within and outside prisons, with several cases already initiated against prominent figures.
