Delhi Police issues nearly 480,000 parking fines in 2024

Delhi Police has issued over 479,000 challans for improper parking in 2024, with more than 1 million notices sent out by November 22. Each challan incurs a fine of Rs 500. From October 1 to November 22, the police issued 62,042 challans and over 100,000 notices for parking violations. They also towed 173,000 vehicles this year, with towing fees of Rs 200 for two-wheelers and Rs 400 for cars. In addition to parking violations, police penalized 4,634 vehicles for lane violations and issued 98,929 challans for wrong-side driving. Other offenses included 129,000 penalties for restricted timing violations, with fines reaching Rs 20,000 per vehicle.
