Delhi Police arrest seven for fake job placement agency in Uttam Nagar

Delhi Police arrested seven people, including four women posing as HR executives, for running an unregistered fake placement agency in Uttam Nagar that duped job seekers. The accused collected fees of Rs 3,000-4,800 from victims by promising employment, police said Tuesday. The alleged mastermind, Preeti Malhotra, and six others were arrested after a Karol Bagh resident complained about paying Rs 4,800 for registration and account-opening charges, which were never refunded. Police analyzed mobile numbers, UPI payment trails, and bank accounts before raiding the office, seizing phones, registration forms, and payment records. The accused advertised vacancies on online job portals and contacted unemployed youths via WhatsApp, conducting sham interviews before demanding fees. Investigators linked five complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to the mobile numbers and bank accounts allegedly used by the group.
