Delhi High Court closes contempt case against SpiceJet chairman

The Delhi High Court has closed contempt proceedings against SpiceJet's chairman and directors for failing to fully comply with an order to hand over two Boeing aircraft and three engines to TWC Aviation Capital. The court noted the main case was already disposed of. TWC Aviation Capital can now file an execution petition to take possession of the leased assets. The court said there was no point prolonging the contempt case given this option and other pending cases. A UK court had ordered the handover over $14 million in unpaid dues. The court acknowledged SpiceJet's claim that the aircraft and engines were handed over with some technical records, while TWC Aviation said complete records were missing and parts were absent. The contempt case originated from a May 2024 order and a July 2024 notice.
