Delhi adds 50 e-buses, opens automated vehicle testing station

Delhi launched multiple transport initiatives on Thursday, including 50 new electric buses and an automated vehicle testing station, inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The four-lane automated testing station at Tehkhand, Delhi's second, can test 72,000 vehicles annually with automated checks for braking, emissions, and other systems. The new buses bring the DTC fleet to about 6,840 vehicles, including 5,088 electric buses, the country's largest e-bus fleet. An interstate electric bus service between Dhaula Kuan and Rewari was also launched, alongside new EV charging stations at two DTC depots. The government aims to expand the fleet to 14,000 buses by 2028-29 and urged women to apply for Pink Cards before September 17.
