Deepest map challenges galaxy formation models
Scientists have released the COSMOS-Web, the deepest and largest map of the universe to date, revealing 800,000 galaxies and challenging existing models of galaxy formation. The map, created using the James Webb Space Telescope, spans 98% of the universe's age, reaching back 13.5 billion years. It shows ten times more galaxies than previously observed, along with supermassive black holes not visible before, creating unexpected results. The COSMOS-Web data is publicly available, allowing other researchers to explore the early universe and its mysteries. The findings suggest galaxies formed faster than previously thought, prompting further investigation and potentially revising current cosmological models.
