DDoS Attacks Cost as Little as a Streaming Subscription

in.gr (Greek) —

Kaspersky research reveals that DDoS attacks are sold as a service on the dark web for as little as $30, with prices reaching up to $2,000 depending on the target and attack duration. The analysis of over 256,000 dark and deep web posts identified 148 active DDoS service providers since 2024. Three main models exist: hired attacks, subscription-based DDoS-as-a-Service tools, and self-managed botnets. Most providers advertised application-level attacks (92%) and network-level techniques (74%). The low cost and wide availability of ready-made attack tools highlight how easily websites and online services can be targeted. An 18-year-old member of the hacker group KillSec was arrested in Athens in connection with related cybercrime activities.
