David Jason, 86, said he can no longer perform physical stunts such as the famous Only Fools and Horses bar fall, acknowledging the limits of ageing. In a BBC Radio Leeds interview with Gayle Lofthouse, Jason explained he had insisted on doing the fall while filming, using techniques learned from theatre audiences. He was promoting live shows 'An Evening with Sir David Jason' beginning September 2026. Jason said writer John Sullivan initially did not plan the bar fall; he demanded it. He added such stunts were once routine in summer seasons at Weston-super-Mare, but "those days are no longer."
