Dave Gahan reveals he tricked Depeche Mode into letting him join the band

Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan revealed he "blagged" his way into the band, contradicting the popular story that his singing of David Bowie's "Heroes" caught the attention of the original members. Gahan admitted he was one of several singers in the room. Gahan reflected on his early years with the band, stating he felt awkward as a frontman for about a decade. He credited their success to working with talented people, particularly Mute Records founder Daniel Miller. Gahan is set to perform at a tribute show for Mark Lanegan in London on December 5, alongside other notable artists.
