Davao Light applies for permit renewal to continue power distribution in Davao City

inquirer.net

Davao Light and Power Co., owned by Aboitiz, has applied to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for a renewal of its certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN). The current CPCN will expire in September 2025. The company’s franchise has been extended for another 25 years, until September 2050. Davao Light serves Davao City and nearby areas, and it aims to ensure uninterrupted electric service during the renewal process. In 2022, a proposed expansion of Davao Light's franchise was vetoed by President Marcos due to potential legal issues with existing contracts. AboitizPower is also implementing a paperless billing system through its MobileAP app.
