Data mismatches delay Apaar registration for students in Ludhiana schools
Schools in Ludhiana are facing delays in the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (Apaar) due to data mismatches between birth certificates and Aadhaar cards. Although the government states that Apaar IDs are optional, schools feel pressured to register all students. Many students lack Aadhaar cards, complicating the registration process. Families of migrant workers face additional challenges with address discrepancies, while differences in birthdates between school records and Aadhaar cards create further confusion for educators. Despite these issues, 40% of Apaar IDs for primary government school students have been generated. Educators are calling for government support, including workshops for teachers and guidance for parents, to help resolve these challenges.
