Danville volunteers feed families, build community bonds

Volunteers at the Danville Riverside Food Bank provide essential food assistance to approximately 400 families monthly, fostering community connections. The food bank was named "Neighbor of the Year" earlier this year. The food bank, operating on the second Saturday of each month, relies on dedicated volunteers who arrive early to prepare for distribution, rain or shine. They sort and package food, including fresh produce and frozen items, for families in need. Beyond providing food, the food bank creates meaningful relationships, with volunteers like Joe Neizer, who connects with recipients, even ensuring a young man gets his favorite cereal. The food bank also offers a crisis pantry.
