Cyberattack compromises personal data of over one million patients at US healthcare provider
Community Health Center (CHC) reported a cyberattack that may have compromised the personal information of over a million patients. The breach involved names, Social Security numbers, and health details, but no ransomware was used. CHC detected unusual activity on January 2 and quickly engaged experts to secure its systems. The organization stated that the hacker did not delete or lock any data, allowing daily operations to continue unaffected. CHC is notifying those impacted and offering free identity theft protection for 24 months through IDX. The organization has also set aside $1 million for reimbursement and identity recovery assistance.
