CPI urges Puducherry Speaker to convene Public Accounts Committee meetings

The Communist Party of India has urged Puducherry Assembly Speaker to convene Public Accounts Committee meetings to address financial mismanagement flagged in the Comptroller and Auditor General's report for the fiscal year ending 2025. CPI state secretary A.M. Saleem stated that ₹1,041.79 crore in scheme funds remained unutilised while the government borrowed at higher interest rates, and alleged misappropriation of ₹27 crore in the electricity department. He also demanded expedited enquiries into 57 corruption cases and action against officials. The party additionally raised concerns about uncleaned water tanks, saline intrusion in aquifers, and diversion of capital expenditure funds, demanding groundwater-conservation schemes and a State Quality Check Unit.
