Court orders eviction of retired worker from Levallois-Perret housing

actu.fr (French) —

A French court has ordered the expulsion of a retired maintenance worker from his tied accommodation in Levallois-Perret, after the Île-de-France Region requested the property to house his successor. The former employee of the Léonard-de-Vinci high school retired in June 2025 but remained in the apartment despite a formal notice to leave in January 2026. The Region argued he was an "occupant without title," also citing safety concerns over his use of communal electrical outlets to charge an e-scooter. In a ruling dated July 28, 2026, the administrative court granted the Region's request but allowed the man two months to vacate, until September 28, 2026. After that deadline, the Region may proceed with forced eviction and removal of his belongings.
