Court jails Ilkley director who faked coma and broke ban

Peter Etherington, 68, from Ilkley, was jailed for 18 months and two weeks for acting as a company director while disqualified, despite having previously faked a coma to avoid court. He pleaded guilty in March to continuing at PP Global Media Ltd from April 2019 to October 2022 while banned. The sentence includes five months activated from a suspended term for an earlier, almost identical offence. He had claimed an induced coma to miss court, but was seen shopping in Tesco. He received a further 10-year director ban; an investigator said he treated disqualifications with 'utter contempt.'
