Corporate zero-deforestation commitments show little impact on Indonesia's palm oil sector

Corporate zero-deforestation commitments have had little additional impact on reducing deforestation in Indonesia's palm oil sector. A study found that deforestation declined similarly in supply chains with and without these commitments, suggesting public policies and economic factors were the primary drivers of the reduction. While current commitments may not explain past declines, they could offer future protection if forest pressure increases.
