Consumer price index for agricultural labourers decreases

The All-India Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Labourers has been released for February 2025. According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, both indices dropped by 7 points. The Agricultural Labourers index is now at 1309 points, while the Rural Labourers index stands at 1321 points. Inflation rates have also decreased compared to last year. For February 2025, the inflation rates based on the Agricultural Labourers index is 4.05%. The Rural Labourers index shows a rate of 4.10%. In February 2024, these rates were higher at 7.43% and 7.36%, respectively. January 2025 figures were slightly higher, with 4.61% for Agricultural Labourers and 4.73% for Rural Labourers. Looking more closely at the indices, some changes in specific categories can be noted. For Agricultural Labourers, the food index fell from 1255 points in January to 1242 points in February. Other categories, like clothing, saw a small increase. In the Rural Labourers category, the food index also decreased from 1261 points to 1249 points. However, the clothing and miscellaneous categories saw slight increases. Overall, both indices reflect a trend of decreasing prices compared to the previous year.
