Connecting OJS to Scholarly Infrastructure: Free Event for African Publishers

The Public Knowledge Project (PKP), in partnership with EIFL, DOAJ, Crossref, and ASSAf, will host a free online event titled "Plug it in: Connecting OJS to Scholarly Infrastructure for Africa" on October 21, 2026, at 2 PM GMT. The 60-minute session aims to teach beginner OJS users in Africa how to connect their journals to external systems like DOAJ and Crossref, covering metadata entry, policy configuration, and plugin usage. It is part of the "Strengthening Scholarly Publishing in Africa" series. Participants will learn best practices for metadata hygiene, how to configure settings for indexing services, and the importance of regular platform upgrades to maintain interoperability. The event targets those already using OJS for basic publishing but unfamiliar with broader scholarly ecosystems.
