Connecticut’s first proton therapy center opens in Wallingford

Connecticut’s first proton beam therapy center opened Tuesday in Wallingford, marking a major advancement in the state’s cancer care capabilities. The 25,000-square-foot facility at 932 Northrop Road is a collaboration between Hartford HealthCare, Yale New Haven Health, and Proton International, offering highly targeted radiation treatment that minimizes damage to healthy tissue. Yale Medicine and Radiation Oncology, PC will provide clinical leadership. Proton therapy treats various cancers, including brain, prostate, and pediatric cases, and officials say the center positions Connecticut as a leader in healthcare innovation.
