Congress severs ties with Raijor Dal over ethics breach

The Indian National Congress has formally ended its political alliance with the Raijor Dal party, citing repeated derogatory remarks and malicious propaganda by Raijor Dal as a violation of alliance ethics. The decision takes effect immediately. The termination was directed by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi. The Congress stated that Raijor Dal's leadership continuously engaged in character assassination and made baseless remarks against other opposition alliance partners, undermining coalition norms. Raijor Dal, led by Akhil Gogoi, won one seat in the recent assembly elections. Despite severing ties, the Congress affirmed its commitment to raising public issues and holding the BJP government accountable for its policies and governance.
