In Assam, Deputy Speaker Numal Momin has accused Congress MLAs of attacking him in a manner he described as "Maoist-style." The incident took place as Momin was entering the assembly. According to him, Congress MLA Nurul Huda and several others blocked the door and pushed him. Momin later appeared in the assembly with a bandage on his left hand. Momin claimed that the attack felt like a terrorist act and demanded a thorough investigation. He referred to the incident as a "black day" for the Assam assembly, naming Huda as the main instigator. Following the incident, Momin filed a police report. On the same day, Congress MLAs were protesting the behavior of BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi. Kurmi had reportedly created chaos last week during a discussion in the assembly. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condemned the alleged attack on Momin, saying it compromised the assembly's dignity. He called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Momin explained that the altercation occurred just before the question hour. He described how he was blocked from entering the assembly and injured in the process. Meanwhile, Nurul Huda denied the accusations, stating that the opposition was only trying to present grievances. Speaker Biswajit Daimary promised a full investigation into the incident but did not make an immediate ruling. Earlier, Congress members had staged a sit-in protest, while members from AIUDF brought bamboo fences to symbolize their need for protection. Amid the tension, the assembly was briefly adjourned. Chief Minister Sarma agreed with opposition leader Debabrata Saikia to form a House Committee to look into the situation.
