Congonhas Airport opens expanded boarding area in June
The expanded remote boarding area at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, is scheduled to open in June, offering increased space for passengers. This expansion is the first passenger-facing project completed in the airport's major renovation. The new remote boarding area will nearly double in size, from 1,400 to 3,000 square meters, with wider boarding gates. The current boarding area was crowded even outside peak hours. The expansion is part of a larger, multi-stage airport overhaul costing R$2.4 billion. The overall airport renovation, managed by Aena since October 2023, includes a new boarding area with direct access to planes and is expected to be completed by June 2028. The project aims to increase passenger capacity and potentially accommodate international flights.
