Concrete wall construction nears completion in Mukali, addressing highway upgrade delays

A concrete wall is nearing completion in Mukali, where a soil nailing retaining wall collapse had halted highway upgrades. The new wall, approximately 80 meters long, is on the right side of the Azhiyur-Vadakara route. Construction is also progressing at Madappally, another site of soil nailing failure. The original soil nailing wall at Mukali collapsed on July 1, 2024, narrowly avoiding a major accident. Residents had advocated for acquiring more land for a sloped retaining wall, but NHAI did not agree.
