Commanding officer of HMNZS Manawanui to resume duties in January

The commanding officer of HMNZS Manawanui, Bronwyn Heslop, will return to her duties on January 13, 2024. This follows a command investigation into the ship's sinking off Upolu, Samoa, in September. The investigation concluded with administrative actions taken, but Heslop was never removed from command. She will serve as commanding officer of HMNZS Canterbury until mid-2025. The New Zealand Defence Force did not disclose specific details about the administrative actions to protect individual privacy.
