Three Chinese research vessels were spotted entering the Philippine exclusive economic zone (EEZ) near Siargao and Davao Oriental. The Philippine Coast Guard reported their movements on November 14 and 20, noting they did not linger in the area. The vessels, identified as Xiang Yang Hong 3, Jia Geng, and Xiang Yang Hong 10, were last seen 210 nautical miles east of Siargao on November 30. The Coast Guard stated that the vessels should have requested clearance from the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Philippine Coast Guard plans to inform the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea about the incident. The Chinese Embassy in Manila has not yet responded to requests for comment.
