Chinese chip startup MemSilicon raises over 400 million yuan in Series A; chip veteran Lu Tao named CEO
Chinese chip startup MemSilicon announced over 400 million yuan in Series A funding on October 19, led by Boyuan Capital with participation from Bosch Venture Capital and others. Former Graphcore executive Lu Tao has joined as CEO and co-founder. The funding will support RRAM industrialization and new LPU development for AI inference. Lu Tao brings over 20 years of chip industry experience, previously serving at Graphcore, Cavium, and Lightelligence. He emphasized that memory-computing synergy is key to meeting demands for low latency, long context, and high throughput in large model inference. MemSilicon's team originates from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with over two decades of research in materials, devices, and chip design. Academician Liu Ming noted the need to transform scientific research into system capabilities for AI chip innovation.
