Chinchinim launches water conservation initiative for residents
On March 22, Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat launched a new campaign for water conservation. This initiative encourages residents to report any water leaks they see. The goal is to reduce water wastage in the community. Sarpanch Frank Viegas explained that villagers should inform their ward representatives about leaks from public pipelines or community taps. The panchayat will work with the Public Works Department to quickly fix reported issues. Viegas and other panchayat members emphasized the importance of community involvement in saving water. They reminded residents that "every drop counts" and highlighted the connection between the climate crisis and water issues. PWD technical assistant Sanjay Pagi commended the panchayat for taking action against leaks. Many residents welcomed the initiative and expressed their support. The panchayat thanked them and promised to follow up on the necessary repairs.
