China's C919 passenger jet challenges Boeing and Airbus in aviation market

China's new C919 passenger jet is challenging Western aviation giants Boeing and Airbus. Launched in May 2023, the C919 is now operating in 10 major Chinese cities and has carried over a million passengers. The C919 aims to compete directly with Boeing's 737, which has faced reputational issues following a recent crash in South Korea. Currently, 13 C919 planes are in use, with plans for 360 more over the next decade. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China is increasing production and seeking international approval for the C919. This move could expand its market presence beyond China, where it has already secured 365 orders.
