China is highlighting its "superiority" in information warfare, with a video of a Japanese official appearing to bow spreading on social media. The video, taken after a director-general level meeting in Beijing, shows the Japanese official seemingly bowing while the Chinese official stands with hands in pockets. This is seen as part of China's information campaign to assert dominance following Japan's comments on Taiwan. The meeting was between Japan's Kanai Masao and China's Liu Jinso. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary stated that they lodged a protest with China regarding the media arrangements for the meeting, which were not coordinated with the Japanese side.
