China criticizes EU's targeting of Chinese medical device firms
China strongly opposes the European Union's move to restrict Chinese medical device companies from participating in public tenders. This action is seen as protectionist by Beijing. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated its opposition following the EU's decision to bar Chinese firms from bidding on medical device contracts exceeding 5 million euros. This five-year ban is implemented under the EU's International Procurement Instrument. China argues the EU's move harms Chinese companies, undermines fair competition, and creates trade barriers. The ministry highlighted the challenges of unilateralism and protectionism in the global economy.
