China approves ten new nuclear power units
China's government has approved the construction of 10 new nuclear power units, representing a $27 billion investment to expand its nuclear energy capacity. This expansion aims to increase the country's reliance on nuclear power. The new units will be built across five existing nuclear power plants using domestically developed technologies. This follows a trend of approving 10-11 units annually in recent years, with China aiming to double nuclear power's contribution to its energy mix. China's nuclear power capacity is rapidly growing, with 57 units operational as of the end of 2024. The country is projected to become the world's largest nuclear power producer by 2030, focusing on self-reliance and international cooperation.
