China Aims for Universal Fire Safety Awareness in Five Years

China's National Fire and Rescue Administration announced a plan on September 3 to enhance public fire safety awareness, aiming for everyone to "know common knowledge, identify risks, and avoid danger" within about five years. The plan, issued on July 24, was jointly developed by the administration and six other departments, including education and social work, following a State Council directive from March. It outlines four key actions: promoting fire safety knowledge, providing practical training on equipment like extinguishers, conducting realistic evacuation drills, and using case studies for education and warning. These measures target the general public and specific groups like safety managers, emphasizing hands-on practice and learning from past incidents to foster a culture of proactive fire safety participation.
